Carara National Park


Carara National Park is located in the conservation area of the Central Pacific of Costa.

It was established as a biological reserve on April 27th, 1978 but in 1990 the government upgraded its category to a national park due to the massive number of tourists who visit it.

In Carara National Park you have the chance to find the four different types of forest in Costa Rica and a complete sanctuary of birds, more than four hundred species, including the beautiful red macaw.

All this can be enjoyed by long paths through the national park, one special path is available for adults and handicapped visitors. The national park includes wheelchairs and adult walker rental.
